chilly mackeral

I was taught this dish by one of my friend (T). She is from sri lanka.
She is very sweet and fun person to be with . She can talk and talk all day long , I often wonder if she ever gets tired of talking.
She often boasts of her sri lankan cuisine and I keep trying my best to convince her that our Indian cuisine is far much better than theirs :) and ofcourse it is ...
There are a couple of recipes which she has shared with me which I will post later on. This is not a sri lankan dish though.... I guess it was invented by (T) since we do not get fresh fish of our choice in this place where we live..
For now, u can try this one...

1 tinned mackeral in brine
1/2 tspn cumin seeds
1/2 onion finely chopped
1/2 tspn garlic paste
1/2 crushed red chilly
few curry leaves
tomato sauce and any spicy sauce

METHOD

drain the water from mackeral and keep aside.
Heat 1 tbspn of oil in a pan add cumin seeds when it crackles add the curry leaves and the chopped onion and cook till it is softened.Add the garlic paste than add the crushed chilly, stir for some time, Add the saucers and mix well, than finally add the mackeral. mix well and enjoy as a side dish with rice.it tastes good even with bread.
